I find myself looking for something unusual in the ordinary and mundane spaces that I see day to day. There is often something intangible that captures my imagination and enables contemplation. I may find an intriguing scene as easily on a walk through the forest as much as a walk in the alley behind my house. For some paintings, it may be how they describe our time and its idiosyncratic infrastructure or it might be a particular colour, composition or the way the light falls on the subject. For others, it’s a feeling that what I’m seeing is somehow exceptional.
