The thing that keeps me going as an artist is clearly the excitement of discovery that one feels on occasion - that giddy experience when all forces of the universe seem to converge in front of your eyes and a miracle has occurred. These "Ah-Ha" moments don't necessarily indicate the completion of a work, and can occur at any point along the trajectory from inception to completion, but they signal a quantum leap in the artist's ability to realize his vision. Understanding the work of other artists is key to this process.
